Institute for Physical Chemistry

The Institute for Physical Chemistry is part of the Faculty for Chemistry and Earth Science at Heidelberg University. It combines research and teaching in the fields of Theoretical Chemistry and experimental Physical Chemistry from fundamentals to applications.

Research at the PCI encompasses a broad spectrum of topics in Theoretical Chemistry with a focus on quantum dynamics and experimental Physical Chemistry focusing on light-matter interaction at different time and length scales and biological/bio-inspired systems and interfaces.

The faculty and staff of the PCI offer a variety of courses (lectures, seminars and lab classes) in Physical and Theoretical Chemistry for the Bachelor's (50% and 100%) and Master's degree programs in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biotechnology and Molecular Systems Science and Engineering at Heidelberg University.
